Building off the success of the V1 Shift, Salomon introduces the latest and greatest Shift, designed to take skiers anywhere they choose to go on the mountain. From in-bounds to out-of-bounds, the Shift2 MN 13 provides the safety and reliability needed to give skiers confidence when sending it hard in the resort, while remaining light weight enough to allow for an efficient and effective ascent for epic backcountry explorations.

Why we like it:

The Shift2 is better than ever and makes a relatively light weight and versatile option for those who want one setup to do it all.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers who are looking for a resort-ready, touring-capable hybrid binding will appreciate the versatility of the Shift2 13.

Highlights:

Salomon has made some important and noteworthy tweaks to the Shift, improving its performance and making it more user friendly. An aluminum plate under the sliding AFD improves the boot/binding interface, providing 30% more lateral stiffness for enhanced power transfer - especially on wider skis – compared to the previous version. Reworked climbing bars allow for easier manipulation with a ski pole, and the Shift2 gets an updated brake design as well. Lastly, if you’re familiar with how the Shift switches from tour to ski mode, you’ll rest easy knowing that Salomon brought this user-friendly tech forward to the Shift 2.

Things to consider:

While versatility is a huge benefit to many of us, there is always a small amount of compromise in the “do-it-all” category. Those seeking the highest level of performance in one specific application would do well to look at a binding designed for that specific application; for example, those prioritizing maximum uphill efficiency with less concern about downhill performance would want to look at a lighter, touring specific binding.

Fit & sizing considerations:

These bindings are compatible with Alpine ski boots with ISO 5355 and ISO 23223, and Touring boots with ISO 9523. Note that your boot must have tech fittings in the toe in order to tour with the Shift2.
